Artist info
Our hand-painted textiles are made with passion by Tribal Textiles, a company located in Nfuwe village in Zambia, in the South Luangwa region.
Founded in 1991 by Gillie Lightfoot with limited resources, without electricity and water, the company started by experimenting with different techniques and dyes, and using its environment as source of inspiration to create designs.
Today, Tribal Textiles employs more than a hundred premises with a fair wage policy and working conditions. The company values the well-being of its employees and invests a portion of its revenues in the development of its community. In a region where jobs are scarce, it has become one of the largest employers and is supporting dozens of families.
Tribal Textiles creates beautiful items for the home, entirely hand painted with 100% cotton fabrics produced in Africa, and non-toxic dyes made of water and safe for the environment.
